Ken Vanlier

Ken Vanlier has been a teaching institution at Keyboard World for more than thirty years. Trained in music theory, performance and piano improvisation, Ken teaches all ages at all proficiency levels. He teaches many styles and has years of experience teaching keyboardists to play contemporary and traditional worship music.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays: 9 AM – 8:30 PM

Beth Lewis

Beth Lewis teaches piano, voice, and guitar has been a professional musician for almost 40 years. She was a Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp choir member for three years and attended WMU on a vocal scholarship. Beth is a composer and arranger and has led worship as a player and vocalist for over 23 years. She is an enthusiastic and fun educator with a great spirit for music.

Gen Sterenberg

Gen Sterenberg is Keyboard World’s Lowrey class Personal Assistant and assists Ken Vanlier with the Basic and Advanced classes, orders music books, keeps the class birthday and anniversary calendar and coordinates Keyboard World’s commitment to help students get more involved in their music making. She also holds one-on-one help sessions to class participants.

Jody Deems-McCargar

Mrs. Deems-McCargar is the founder, and former CEO and director of the Piano Cottage Studios, which has become western Michigan’s home to more than 500 pianists ages 4-94. Currently, she has openings to teach additional students at Keyboard World on Mondays,Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Other times are possible. Ms. Jody is starting a daytime adult group piano class in the near future.

In addition to studies at Interlochen, CMU, and MSU she is working on an MA in piano pedagogical and music business training through the Berklee School of Music. She’s also certified in Suzuki Piano Instruction from Queens University, Kingston Ontario.

Memberships include: West Michigan Piano Teacher Forum, MMTA and National Association of Music Teachers, Federation Music Clubs, St. Cecilia’s Music Clubs, Grand Rapids Federation of Musicians Local 57, Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Weekly 30 minute lessons: $115.50/month
Weekly 45 minute lessons: $173.25/month
Weekly 60 minute lessons: $231.00/month

Josh Zimmerman

Mr. Josh Zimmerman is originally from the West Michigan area and began taking piano lessons at the age of nine. By the time he was twelve, he was playing in weddings and traveling to churches throughout West Michigan. He has been performing ever since.

Josh attended Central Michigan University, where he graduated with a degree in Secondary Education. Since then he has held several musical posts, including band director at Sacred Heart Academy in Mount Pleasant, MI from 2012-2017, and accompanist at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Shepherd.

Throughout his fifteen years as a music educator, he has developed lessons around what motivates each student musically in multiple genres. Josh plays, performs and teaches both piano and guitar. He also plays drums and ukulele.

Instructor for beginner-advanced Piano, acoustic guitar, music theory, composition and music production.
