Description

This piano is Yamaha’s famous U1 professional studio piano in Disklavier form. It was built in the 90s, so a 3.5″ disk is used to play and record performances. The previous owners enjoyed watching the hammers in action and installed Yamaha’s plexiglass front option. In the showroom, we’ve watch children and adults become mesmerized by the flurry of activity inside this piano as it plays.

Aside from the Disklavier function, this is an articulate piano to play, featuring the light touch and clear tone for which Yamaha pianos are famous. This would make a great piano for entertaining, studying or performing. It even has MIDI and can be interfaced with tablets or PCs.

About the Yamaha U1 Larry Fine’s Piano Book says,”Technicians continue to be enthusiastic about servicing Yamaha verticals, especially the uprights, which are considered to be rather spectacular pianos. The 48” model U1 is still considered by many to be one of the best values among pianos.”….an absolutely gorgeous piano to tune, play and listen to,”…Flawless!” “Easy tuning – still my pick of the litter.”

WIKI:

Disklavier is the brand name for a family of high-tech reproducing pianos made by Yamaha. The Disklavier is a real acoustic piano outfitted with electronic sensors for recording and electromechanical solenoids for player pianos style playback. Sensors record the movements of the keys, hammers, and pedals during a performance, and the system saves the performance data as a Standard MIDI File (SMF). On playback, the solenoids move the keys and pedals and thus reproduce the original performance.
